Michelle’s Story
LEADERSHIP. EXPERIENCE. DEDICATION.
Sheriff Michelle Duncan of the Linn County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has dedicated herself to keeping our communities safe since 1997. Michelle has gained invaluable leadership experience during her time at the LCSO as a resident patrol deputy, narcotics detective, patrol sergeant, patrol lieutenant, patrol captain, and public information officer. Sheriff Jim Yon selected Michelle to serve in the trusted role of his Undersheriff to run the operations of the entire Sheriff’s Office.
As Sheriff, Michelle will continue to keep public safety as her highest priority. She will serve this office with the proven cooperative, dedicated, and experienced leadership Linn County deserves. As Michelle moved up through the ranks, she built strong, positive relationships with other law enforcement agencies and fire departments, as well as community leaders in the LCSO contract cities by working towards resolutions cooperatively.
Michelle believes hard work and integrity are qualities the Sheriff must possess. Michelle has dedicated herself to these principles over the course of her career to learn as much as possible about each division in the office. Michelle understands how each division contributes to the overall success of the office in order to serve the citizens of Linn County in accordance with LCSO’s mission statement of “Keeping the peace with dignity, honesty, and compassion.”
Joining a high school career police academy program made it clear to Michelle that serving others through law enforcement was her true passion and she has never deviated from that path.
Michelle resides in Millersburg with her husband, daughter and two dogs. She also has an adult son who resides in Albany. Her hobbies include hiking, fishing, gardening, and spending as much time as she can with her family.
